Young social entrepreneur recognised for care and support for the elderly

Founder of Guruge Elderly Care, Samitha Fernando won the Pinnacles Award as the Best Elderly Care Centre in 2022 and Social Worker of the year, held at Water’s Edge recently. 24-year-old Samitha started Guru’s Elder Care Centre to carry out his social mission by providing kind service to elders, which has now expanded to eight branches. It is a remarkable fact that he decided to become a social entrepreneur at a young age. He has provided his care centre’s services to about one hundred and fifty elderly people and provided jobs for about thirty people. Samitha received the award as the best Elderly Care Centre and the award as the youngest social entrepreneur of the year.
