Yasitha, Anjalika to defend the singles title  

107th Nationals Tennis Championship  

The 107th National Tennis Championship has attracted over 900 entries for various age categories. The tournament which runs till September 18 will offer rupees 700,000.00 for the winners of the open category. The matches will be worked off at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association clay courts with First Capital coming forward as the main sponsor.

The Under 12, 14, 16, and 18 are the boys’ and girls’ age category events. There will also be veterans’ events in the Over 35, 45, 55 and 65 categories.

Defending champion Yasitha de Silva is the fourth seed in the men’s open singles event while Thehan Wijemanne and Chathurya Nilaweera are seeded number one and two. In the women’s open singles defending champion Anjalika Kurera is the top seed.
