Yasarohana passes away
Yasarohana de Silva (61), the former vice president and assistant secretary of Sri Lanka Athletics passed away on Saturday.
The former national champion in the men’s 100 metres and the 200 metres, de Silva was the president of the Ceylonese Track and Field Club at the time of his sudden demise. He held that post for ten years.
The winner of a number of National Schools and Public Schools sprint events in the late 70s de Silva later rose to prominence as the champion in sprint events at national events. He was also the winner of sprint events at the National Sports Festival in 1985.
He was the Assistant Director of Sports of the Ministry of Sports of North Western Province.
His funeral will be held at the Public Cemetery, Madampe on Wednesday.
