World renowned scientist to help SL sort out environmental issues

A world-renowned scientist praised Sri Lanka for its efforts in respect of formulating environment polices.

World Agro-forestry (ICRAF) Chief Dr. Fergus Sinclair yesterday agreed to support the environmental projects in the country.

Head of the World Agro-forestry (ICRAF) Institute, a distinguished environmental organisation, based in Nairobi, Kenya, Dr. Sinclair had a meeting with Secretary to the Ministry of Environment Dr. Anil Jasinghe yesterday at the Ministry.

ICRAF is an international organisation currently involved in the project design and implementation of climate financing.

They also discussed the sharing of knowledge and experience of ICRAF in the implementation of environmental projects in Sri Lanka.

Dr. Jasinghe, Secretary to the Ministry of Environment, briefed Dr. Sinclair about environmental protection measures adopted here as well as action being taken by the Ministry to tackle climate change.

ICRAF has also contributed to the successful implementation of Knuckles related environmental projects in Sri Lanka. They have also taken measures to sign a Host Country Agreement with Sri Lanka.
