Woman drowns in Victoria Reservoir, husband too feared dead

A woman had drowned and her husband had gone missing while they were bathing in the Victoria Reservoir at Kumbukkandura in Teldeniya, police said yesterday.

According to police the deceased was a 22-year-old woman and that her missing husband was 28 years old. Both of them are residents of Thihariya.

The victims were among a group of individuals bathing in the reservoir. They were visiting the deceased’s ancestral home.

The woman’s body was found. The police and residents in the area have launched a search operation to trace her missing husband, who is also feared drowned.
