Wimal calls for all-party govt.
NPP Leader Wimal Weerawansa demanded to know from the government in Parliament yesterday (4) why President Gotabaya Rajapaksa was nowhere to be seen as the economic crisis was worsening day by day.
MP Weerawansa said that even though the country had a President, he was nowhere to be seen. A solution to the crisis was not in sight either.
“Parliament sittings are being held
while the country was being mired deeper in crisis. The people cannot go out owing to the fuel crisis. In such a situation, neither the Prime Minister nor the Energy Minister is present in the Chamber. There is a President in the country as well. But he is nowhere to be seen.”
MP Weerawansa claimed the international community had lost its faith in the current administration.
He said an all-party administration had to be formed.
“All the parties need to get together to solve these crises. What we are doing today is like playing tennis on a volcano which is about to erupt,” he added.
