Wimal and Udaya out

Minister of Energy Udaya Gammanpila and Minister of Industries Wimal Weerawansa were removed from their ministerial portfolios yesterday evening.

S. B. Dissanayake was sworn in as the new Minister of Industries, Pavithra Wanniarachchi as the Minister of Power, Gamini Lokuge as Minister of Energy and Dilum Amunugama as the Minister of Transport.

SLPP MP Udaya Gammanpila told The Island that having a clear conscience was important than a ministerial portfolio and that he did not regret having been stripped of his minsterial portfolio.

“I have told earlier that I am ready to sacrifice any for the betterment of the country. Those who lost portfolios don’t regret having fought for what is good for the people,” he said. Weerawansa was not immediately available for comment.
