Three northern political parties have held discussions to prepare a set of proposals to be presented to the coming UN Human Rights Council session in Geneva, next March.

Tamil National Alliance’s (TNA) M.A. Sumanthiran, Thamil Makkal Thesiya Kuttani’s (TMTK) C.V. Wigneswaran and Tamil National People’s Front’s (TNPF) Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam attended the talks and agreed to prepare the proposals.

They told the media that the Sri Lankan government had since from 2015 given various assurances to the international community and they would highlight the unfulfilled pledges.

However, the three parties had not yet decided whether to send representatives to the UNHRC sessions next year, they said.
