Weekly fuel quota increased from last midnight on account of New Year
The President’s Media Division (PMD) yesterday announced an increase in the existing fuel quota for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year festive season, effective from midnight on 04 April.
The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) had previously planned for this increase to accommodate the rising fuel demand during the festive season, and has already received the required fuel stocks.
Under the revised fuel quota, three-wheelers will be permitted to purchase up to 8 litres of fuel (up from 5 litres), while motorcycles can purchase up to 7 litres (up from 4 litres).
Buses can purchase up to 60 litres (up from 40 litres), cars up to 30 litres (up from 20 litres), and other land vehicles can purchase up to 25 litres (up from 15 litres).
Meanwhile, lorries can purchase up to 75 litres (up from 50 litres), quadricycles can purchase up to 6 litres (up from 4 litres), and special purpose vehicles and vans can purchase up to 30 litres (up from 20 litres).
These adjustments have been made to ensure that consumers have sufficient fuel to celebrate the festive season without any inconvenience. (RK)
