We will carry out development that the Opposition carried out over five years within just next year – State Minister Nimal Lanza
Nimal Lanza, State Minister for Rural Roads and Other Infrastructure said, ‘We will carry out the development the Opposition has done for the past five years within the next year.’
State Minister, Nimal Lanza expressed these views while participating in the carpeting and development work of the Katana Madawala Arambe road.
Simultaneously, the development work of Katana Katiyala Gama Meda Road, Batapattala Samagi Mawatha, Raddolugama Kridapitiya Roundabout and Kimbulapitiya Werella Roads was started by carpeting. Under this program, a distance of 5 km of rural roads will be developed at an estimated cost of Rs. 98 million.
Speaking further State Minister, Nimal Lanza said,
‘Development of all AB and CD grade roads in Sri Lanka will be completed next year. According to the instructions given by His Excellency President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, the development of 100,000 km of rural roads is expected to be completed by 2024. Our goal is to carpet and develop at least 25,000 km next year.
‘The Opposition is in Colombo, in AC rooms and issuing statements without going to the village. We have implemented development activities in every Grama Niladhari Division. Necessary programs have been implemented to provide the people with the necessary infrastructure including roads, electricity, drinking water and housing.
‘We will fulfill the promises made to the people in the manifesto of policies given by vision for prosperity by His Execellency Gotabhaya Rajapaksha as well as the promises made to the people in this budget. This time we passed the first budget for that.
‘No cure has been found for the Covid 19 epidemic. Even in England the vaccine has been found to have side effects. In such a situation, when someone in Sri Lanka invents something new, there are those in the Opposition who are reluctant to recognize it. We need to find out if those things are good or bad. Otherwise, it is not necessary to condemn local products or doctors. At a time when the world is working to find a vaccine for this, if anyone in Sri Lanka finds something, they should support it.’
