Walkers Shipyard facilitates emergency repairs to ‘SAMARA I’ during quarantine curfew

Emergency repairs to Motor Yacht ‘SAMARA I’ which was in distress off the coast of Colombo was effected at the Walkers Colombo Shipyard, last week, notwithstanding the curfew.

The motor Yacht owned by Marine Solutions India Limited, a reputed yacht chartering company was on a voyage from Galle harbour to Goa in India. After leaving Galle Harbor on the 22nd she faced difficulties and was compelled to seek emergency repairs.

Acting on a request made by the vessels agents at Galle Harbor Windsor Marine, Ceyline Agencies coordinated the approvals with the Sri Lanka Ports Authority and Health Authorities to bring the vessel the Walkers Colombo Shipyard dock at Modera under the supervision of Harbour Master Nirmal de Silva.

Walkers Colombo Shipyard maintain a skeleton engineering crew resident at the Modera Shipyard premises to respond to emergences.

In addition to the emergency repairs to ‘SAMARA I’ the shipyard at the moment is providing services to Australian Sailing yacht “Sea wolf”, a Sri Lankan Supply boat “Puffin-2”  owned by Master Divers (Pvt) Ltd & few other vessels.
