Former Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Vigneswaran is to lead a new Tamil political alliance contesting the upcoming Local Government elections.

Leader of the Tamil Eelam Liberation Organisation (TELO) Selvam Adaikalanathan told journalists, following a meeting at the residence of TNA Leader R. Sampanthan, on Monday, that they will form an alliance with C.V. Vigneswaran’s Tamil People’s National Alliance (TPNA).

People’s Liberation Organisation of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE), led by D. Siddarthan, will also join the new alliance, Adaikalanathan told journalists.

Eelam People’s Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF), led by Suresh Premachandran, is also expected to join the alliance.

Earlier, constituents of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) decided to contest the election, as separate entities, after the Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) central committee decided to contest the elections, under its own symbol, the ‘House’.
