Vietnamese beauty queen brings love to Pattaya children with special needs
…while Mrs. Sri Lanka for Mrs. World 2021 does it in Sri Lanka
Theheadline, in the Pattaya Mail, ‘Vietnamese beauty brings love to Pattaya children with special needs,’ certainly got my attention and I thought of reproducing some of the contents of that particular article for the benefit of our beauty pageant winners. And, we do have plenty cropping up in our scene…every year.

“The newly crowned Miss Grand International, Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien, from Vietnam, along with her entourage, came to Pattaya on Dec. 17 where they visited the Father Ray Foundation School for Children with Special Needs to bring them love and happiness during this festive season.
“During their visit, the beauty queen and her entourage had a great time entertaining the children. Besides hosting a sumptuous lunch for the special children, they sang and danced and played many games with them.
“It was, indeed, a very special day of happiness for both the visitors and the children at the school.
“The Father Ray School for Children with Special Needs was Founded 2007.”
And, this is exactly what I need to instill in our beauty pageant winners – use your beauty, and brains, to help the needy during your reign – and continue with your charity work for as long as it’s possible.
In this regard, hats off to Pushpika De Silva, Mrs Sri Lanka for Mrs. World 2022.
According to Pushpika, her aim is to reach out to fellow brothers and sisters of Sri Lanka which, she says, is her main goal for the period of her reign, and thereafter.
“I am fully determined to give back to mother Lanka, in every possible way. To me, religion, creed, race, ethnicity are all socially constructed boundaries we have made for our own benefit and in doing so, we willingly curtail the freedom, happiness and the right to coexist in harmony. I am a strong believer of Humanity, Humility and Harmony,” says Pushpika of her Lend a Helping Hand campaign
Elaborating on her latest project, that took her to Vavunia, Pushpika said: “I embarked on this project as I was able to reach out to a Tamil community near the Madhu Church area.”
Each family was gifted with a five kilogram pack of rice and a further donation of money to buy provisions.
“This was a soul satisfying journey for me, and my son, and the friends who are always with me on these endeavours.
“Though our travel was long, at the end of the day, seeing a smile on the face of those innocent families gave me the strength to believe further in my capability.”
