Vichinthya, Dinara shine despite rain

Vichinthya Nilaweera reached the boys’ singles final and Dinara de Silva secured a semi-final berth in the girls’ singles as the rain hampered ITF Junior Week two tournament concluded without champions being decided at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts.

Nilaweera reached the final when China’s Xanfeng Chen retired in the semi-final. Nilaweera recorded 6-2, 6-3 win over Dania Bien in the second round before eliminating Eita Suzuki of Japan 7-6, 6-1 in the quarter-final.

He was set to meet Jintao lan who beat Nordal Clauser (Denmark) in his match 3-6, 6-3, 10-6.

Dinara de Silva beat Youn Soo Choo (Koria) 7-6, 6-2 and Naik Amoonia (of India) 6-7, 7-5, 10-6 to advance to the semi-final. She was set to meet Hyewon Kim of Koria in the semi-final.
