Paceman Vibavith Ehelepola and spinner Ravindu Sigera excelled with five-wicket hauls as Trinity and Wesley registered outright victories in their respective season-opening Under 19 traditional cricket encounters on Tuesday.

Trinity cruised to an innings and 65 runs victory over Dharmaraja as paceman Ehelepola (11-5-21-5) picked up five wickets to rattle Dharmaraja for 59 runs in the second innings at Asgiriya.

Trinity were home for lunch as Dharmaraja could last for just 24 overs in the second innings. Trinity are captained by Rahal Amarasinghe this season.

Dharmaraja started the day needing 124 runs to avoid an innings defeat but Pulindu Perera was the only batsman to make a notable contribution.

At Panagoda, spinner Ravindu Sigera picked up five wickets to restrict Gurukula to 103 runs as Wesley recorded 79 runs win. Some good knocks by Linal Subasinghe (58), Chamath Gomez and Uvin Perera had helped Wesley post 202 runs in the second innings before Sigera rattled Gurukula.
