Veteran theatre maestro Indu Dharmasena makes long-awaited return to stage with Here for a fit-on

Veteran theatre practitioner Indu Dharmasena makes a long-awaited return to the stage with a full-length production after a lengthy hiatus. The theatre loving public in Colombo can anticipate an evening of riotous comedy in Indu’s signature style with Here for a fit-on, scheduled to go on the boards at the Bishop’s College Auditorium on the 9th, 10th, and 11th of February 2024.

The fast-paced play follows the antics of the renowned physician and serial ladies’ man Dr. Premjith Suwadena, whose grand plan for a romantic rendezvous at his friend Maithri Sri Hadakarana’s residence cum design studio is rudely interrupted by a barrage of unwelcome visitors. Chaos and comedy ensue as the wily doctor frantically weaves a tangled web of deceit, and audiences will be kept guessing as to how he plans to emerge unscathed.

The cast includes Indu in the lead role ably supported by Anushan Selvarajah as Bandu, Michelle Herft as Sumi, Sanwada Dharmasena as Anjana, Kamanthi Wickramasinghe as Gloria, Anaz Badurdeen as Thilak, Kavinda Gunasekara as Nimal, Jaliya Wijewardene as Mahen, Saneesha Ramanayake as Anushika, and Sanjana Selvarajah as Renuka.

“Here for a fit-on” is presented by Amphitheatre Productions -whose past productions include the stage comedies “Fifty-Fifty” (2016), “The Senator” (2017), “Well, Mudaliyar” (2018), and “Yes, Prime Minister” (2019) – in collaboration with the Trinity College Old Boys’ Association, Colombo Branch.
