Vavuniya comes to a standstill

The Vavuniya town came to a standstill yesterday after all unions and associations joined the hartal.Vavuniya traders’ association, teachers and government servants unions organised the hartal.

Even pharmacies in the town were closed, and those who supported the hartal held a large gathering opposite the Vavuniya old bus depot.Government servants held protests opposite their workplaces. Most people in the private sector, too, joined the hartal.
