US, SL tight-lipped about mystery visit
The US Embassy yesterday (15) declined to comment on an unannounced visit made by a high level US delegation. When The Island asked the US Embassy whether it would issue a statement regarding the visit, the Embassy Spokesperson said that they didn’t have any comment on the topic.
The delegation is believed to have been led by US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs, Jedidiah Royal.
The Foreign Ministry Spokesperson said that the issue should be raised with the Presidential Secretariat or the Defence Ministry.
Sources said that the two C-17 Globemaster aircraft, which arrived Tuesday night at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIAS), had left yesterday. (SF)
