US Senator meets SLN chief
A delegation headed by the United States Senator Chris Van Hollen, yesterday (30) met the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, onboard SLNS Gajabahu, in Colombo.
Navy headquarters said that the visit was part of the United States assistance programmes in the region and to discuss opportunities to enhance cooperation. U.S. Ambassador in Colombo Julie Chung was also present on the occasion.
Upon their arrival, the US delegation received a cordial welcome on board SLNS Gajabahu. The subsequent conversation between the delegation members and the Commander of the Navy primarily centered on various bilateral topics of significance.
The formal discussion came to an end with an exchange of mementoes, highlighting the significance of the meeting. The Deputy Chief of Staff and Director General Operations, Rear Admiral Pradeep Ratnayake, Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Suresh de Silva, Naval Assistant to the Commander of the Navy and Chief Hydrographer of the Sri Lanka Navy, Commodore Kosala Warnakulasooriya and Naval Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Colombo, Lieutenant Commander Jessica De Mont were present.
