UPFA Constitution amended

The United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) had amended its Constitution, enabling it to compete in the coming elections under the ‘Chair’ symbol, former president Maithripala Sirisena said.

Sirisena is also the leader of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), the biggest constituent of the UPFA. He said all party leaders constituting the UPFA had approved this amendment.”UPFA leaders met at the SLFP headquarters on Tuesday (06) night,” Sirisena said.

The UPFA General Secretary is still Lasantha Alagiyawanna and the UPFA leadership council will replace him, if necessary “We will also elect office-bearers within this week. Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga is also in the alliance,” Sirisena said.
