UNP reiterates call for SJBers to come back

UNP General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara yesterday (26) reiterated his party’s call for members of the breakaway Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) to return to its fold.

Addressing the media at the party headquarters Sirikotha, the former UNP State Minister said that the party would welcome the members of the SJB.

“SJBers are being sidelined by its leadership. It is not Harsha de Silva who decides the SJB’s stand on the economy today but others such as Nalaka Godahewa. Therefore, we invite all those affected, including Harsha de Silva, to join us,” Bandara said.

Bandara also said SJBers from the grassroots level had already begun coming back to the UNP.

Since UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe received the premiership in May 2022, the party has invited SJB MPs to come back. So far, only Manusha Nanayakkara and Harin Fernando have accepted Wickremesinghe’s invitation.
