UNP Leader’s proposed amendment rejected

UNP Leader Ranil Wickreremesinghe yesterday said he would move an amendment to the no-confidence motion against Minister Udaya Gammanpila and to convert it into a no-faith motion against the entire Cabinet.

“My amendment is to convert the motion into a no-faith motion against the entire government,” he said,

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena turned down the UNP leader’s request.

Leader of the House Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said that there was no provision to amend a no-confidence motion after it was taken up for debate.
