UNP Gen. Secy.’s bid to put off polls: SJB asks whether RW fears facing electorate

A top SJB official alleged yesterday that UNP General Secretary Range Bandara had been used by President Ranil Wickremesinghe to confuse the electorate.

The SJBer was responding to Bandara yesterday (03) repeating his last week’s demand that both Presidential and Parliamentary polls should be put off by two years.

The UNP General Secretary asked political parties represented in Parliament to reveal their stand.

The SJB official said that President Wickremesinghe was scared to face the electorate hence the UNP General Secretary was being used as a cat’s paw.

Former UNP State Minister Bandara said that in spite of that proposal the UNP was ready to face a Presidential poll.
