Minister of Investment Promotion, Dhammika Perera asked Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to resign from the post of Finance Minister after Wickremesinghe tried to systematically tax casinos, United National Party (UNP) deputy leader, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said.

Minister Perera’s remarks had come right after the Cabinet decided to regulate casino taxes, he said.

“A number of local and foreign businessmen operate casinos in Sri Lanka. But for the past 12 years they have not been taxed systematically. The Prime Minister explained this to the Cabinet and got its approval for regulating casinos” he said.
