Unidentified woman’s body found in suitcase dumped at Dam Street

The body of an unidentified woman was found inside a suitcase abandoned near Dam Street in Colombo yesterday.

Police said sniffer dogs had been brought to the crime scene but they had not been able to lead the investigators to a successful end.

Police said that the suspect who brought the suitcase to that location had been caught in a nearby CCTV camera. It showed the suspect, wearing a mask, dragging the suitcase along the road before placing it on the roadside and leaving.

Dam Street Police are conducting further investigations.
