Uma and Amal’s Adventures Around Sri Lanka
Book review:
A Look-and-Find Activity Book By Ruvani Chandrasekera
illustrated by Supuni Sooriyarachchi
I found this little book written by Ruwani Chandrasekera to be fascinating. The contents can pique the interest of little children. Although it is an enchanting book for children to read, anyone who has not visited Sri Lanka will be inspired to explore more of this island if they dip into it. It’s an idea gift for children.
It is written in simple language, and each page explains, in a nutshell, places of interest in Sri Lanka. The contents of the book blend beautifully with the very colourfully and tastefully done illustrations. This is a book not only for Sri Lankan children but also for children around the world to encourage and explore shared interests.
The author, Ruvani Chandrasekera is a Sri Lankan American with deep-rooted connections to her motherland. She spent her school holidays exploring Sri Lanka’s wonders and her fondest memories are filled with the sights, sounds, and flavors of this raindrop-shaped paradise. Ruvani is on a mission to share her love for Sri Lanka with children worldwide and she has crafted her debut book, Uma and Amal’s Adventures Around Sri Lanka, as an interactive and entertaining gateway to the island’s hidden gems.
Through vibrant illustrations and engaging seek-and-find activities, Ruvani invites young readers to embark on a captivating journey with Uma and Amal and hopes to encourage a spirit of exploration and cultural understanding.
