UDA keen to protect Muturajawela sanctuary under Cardinal’s leadership

The Urban Development Authority (UDA) is willing to protect the Muturajawela Wetland, under leadership of Archbishop of Colombo Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith.

UDA Chairman Major General (retd.) Udaya Nanayakkara yesterday assured that the fishers of Negombo would not be deprived of their fishing rights, and none of those who are living in the sanctuary would be evicted.

“What we want to do is join hands with them to protect the wetland from garbage dumping and other illegal activities,” he said.
