Two Ukrainians, three SL undergrads remanded for hacking bank account and stealing Rs 13.7mn

Colombo Magistrate Thilina Gamage on Wednesday remanded till 09 Dec., eight suspects including two Ukrainians and three students of the Colombo University, suspected of digitally accessing the bank account of a businessman and transferring Rs. 13.7 million illegally.

They are alleged to have committed the cyber crime on 24 Nov.The computer crimes unit of the CID arrested the suspects and produced them before the court.

The police said that computer crimes were increasing rapidly in the country, and urged to public to remain watchful and check their bank accounts frequently to ensure their safety.
