Two Talaimannar residents apprehended with ‘ice’ with street value of Rs 7.6 mn

Two persons, both residents of Talaimannar, were apprehended in the seas north of Talaimannar on the morning of 08 April 8 along with about 956g of Crystal Methamphetamine (ICE). They were taken into custody along with their dinghy by the Navy.

A senior SLN official told The Island that the detection and the arrests had been made by the crew of an Inshore Patrol Craft (IPC) engaged in a routine patrol. The Navy has estimated the street value of the seized Crystal Methamphetamine to be Rs. 7.6 mn. The suspects together with narcotics, and the dinghy were handed over to the Talaimannar Police for onward legal proceedings.
