Two suspected robbers shot dead

Two persons travelling in a trishaw were shot dead by an unidentified group who arrived in a car at the Malos Ela Junction in Moragahahena, Horana.The victims were identified as Rupasinghe Arachchige Nayanananda (50) of Kiripiriya, Pannipiitiya and Wasantha Perera (52) of Piliyandala.

Moragahahena Police said that the assailants had arrived in a white car, stopped the trishaw and opened fire. The injured were rushed to the Horana base hospital but they were dead on arrival at the hospital.

The motive behind the shooting had not been uncovered as of yet, police said, adding that they had information that the deceased had been involved in several robberies. The Moragahahena Police are conducting investigations.
