Two STF commandos killed, seven injured in accident

Two police commandos died and seven suffered injuries at Welikulam on Vavuniya-Horowpothana road on Monday (09) night when the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a cow and crashed onto a nearby parapet wall.

The injured persons were rushed to Vavuniya hospital. Police identified the deceased as Supun Pradeepana (38,778) and Hashitha Dinesh Madushankar (27,287) attached to STF detachment at Madukanda, Vavuniya. The driver of the ill-fated vehicle survived the accident.

The commandos were on their way to Vavuniya. A senior official said that they were travelling during rain and the driver had lost control of the vehicle after the collision with the cow. The animal died on the spot.
