Two members of the Public Utilities Commission (PUCSL) yesterday resigned from their posts.Mohan Samaranayake and PUCSL’s Deputy Chairman, Udeni Wickramasinghe, had submitted their resignation letters to President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is also the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilisation and National Policies.

Samaranayake and Wickramasinghe have had disagreements with PUCSL Chairman Janaka Ratnayake over a recent Cabinet decision to increase electricity tariffs.

Ratnayake told the media recently that initially all PUCSL members were against the tariff increase, but Samaranayake and Wickramasinghe later changed their minds after meeting the President.
