Two persons killed and 26 others injured as bus falls off cliff at Norton Bridge

Two persons were killed and at least 26 others were injured when a bus carrying pilgrims returning from Sri Pada went down a precipice around 9.15 pm Sunday at Ginigathhena Norton Bridge.

The injured were admitted to Ginigathhena, Watawala and Nawalapitiya hospitals. Hospital sources said that the condition of some of the injured was serious.

Army and police teams brought the injured up the cliff.

The cause of the accident has not yet been revealed and the Norwood Police are conducting further investigations.
