Two dozen petitions filed against Anti-Terrorism Bill

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena told Parliament yesterday (24) that he had received copies of another 18 petitions filed at the Supreme Court under Article 121(1) of the Constitution against the “Anti-Terrorism” Bill, in addition to six petitions mentioned in his announcement on Tuesday (23).

The Speaker also announced that another five petitions had been filed before the Supreme Court in respect of the Bill titled “Microfinance and Credit Regulatory Authority”.

On Tuesday, the Speaker announced that there had been two petitions against the Bill. Accordingly, there are seven petitions against the Bill titled “Microfinance and Credit Regulatory Authority”.
