Twenty ex-lawmakers seek re-entry, Ven Gnanasara eyes NL slot

Twenty ex-lawmakers are seeking re-entry into the parliament through the much abused National List.

They are on the National Lists of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), the Samagi Jana Balavegaya (SJB), the United National Party (UNP) and the JVP-led Jathika Jana Balavegaya. Interestingly, all four lists are led by former lawmakers. The SJB accommodated seven ex-members, the UNP six, SLPP 5 and the JVP led grouping two. Disqualified co-leader of Ape Jana Bala Pakshaya Ven Galagodaatte Gnanasara thera, too, campaigned for a NL slot. The thera was on the rejected Kurunegala nominations list.
