Truck-bus collision leaves 44 injured

Police said that 44 persons had been injured when a truck collided with a bus carrying passengers in Muhamalai on the A-9 road on Saturday.Police said that the truck had crashed into the bus when the bus made a sudden turn.Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said that the accident had occurred when the private bus was rear-ended by the tipper truck when taking a turn.

Police investigations have revealed that the private bus plying towards Jaffna from Kilinochchi collided with the tipper truck which was moving in the same direction when it was taking a right turn and toppled.The injured were admitted to Jaffna, Pallai and Kilinochchi hospitals. The driver of the bus is also among the injured.SSP Thalduwa said that the driver of the tipper truck had been arrested by the Pallai Police.
