Trinity favourities against Cambrians

Under 17 Division 1 Cricket Semi-Final

Defending champions Trinity are the favourities against Prince of Wales when the teams meet in the semi-finals of the Under 17 Division I cricket tournament at the BOI ground Katunayake today (15).

Trinity captained by Dimantha Mahavithana are an unbeaten team. They concluded the first round as champions of their group. During the knockout stage, they beat Bandaranayake MMV Gampaha, Kingswood College, Kandy (pre-quarter-final) and Rahula College, Matara (quarter-finals) to secure the semi-final berth.

Prince of Wales skippered by Prince Fernando were the runners up in their group during the first round. During the business end of the tournament, the Cambrians knocked out Ananda College, Colombo, St. Benedict’s College, Kotahena (pre quarter final) and Maliyadewa College Kurunegala (quarter finals) in a row to reach the semi-finals.

The tournament commenced with 76 teams competing in 14 groups in the first round.
