Treasury agrees to provide adequate funding to conduct poll as need arises

The Treasury has agreed to provide adequate funding to hold elections, Commissioner General of the Elections Commission, Saman Sri Rathnayaka, told The Island yester day. The members of the Elections
Commission met Treasury officials on Wednesday (11). The two sides had a lengthy discussion on the funding needed to hold the local council elections and Treasury officials assured the Elections Commission that they will release the funding needed when the time comes.
