Trains and buses resume operations, but no stopping in lockdown areas
All trains and SLTB buses resumed services from yesterday as usual but they wouldn’t stop in isolated areas, the Ministry of Transport said.
Assistant Commercial Superintendent of Railways Ranjith Padmalal told the media yesterday that the department would also operate the morning and evening office trains adhering to health recommendations.
The trains would not stop at the stations in isolated areas. Trains operating on the mainline would not stop at Dematagoda sub station, Kelaniya, Wanawasala, Enderamulla, Horape sub station, Ragama, Walpola substation and Batuwatte sub station, he said.
Trains operating on the Puttalam line would not stop at Peralanda sub station, Ja-Ela, Thudella substation, Kudahakapola sub station, Kurana, Negombo and Kattuwa. Trains operating on the Kelani Valley railway line would not stop at Baseline substation and Cotta Road substation while trains operating on the Northern railway line would not stop at the Kurunegala railway station.
SLTB Chairman Kingsley Ranawaka said all long-distance buses would operated from the Colombo Central Bus stand from yesterday. However, they, too would not stop in areas under lockdown.
