Top CBL official emphasises need for increase in agricultural production

Group Managing Director, Ceylon Biscuits Limited (CBL Group) Sheamalee Wickramasingha has stressed the urgent need to increase agricultural production as part of the overall efforts to attract more dollar revenue and generate more employment opportunities for the youth.

She said so delivering a guest lecture at the Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies’ Youth Leadership Academy at the Olympus Auditorium of the BCIS recently.

Wickramasingha dealt with a range of matters incluidng innovative entrepreneurial skills, perseverance and commitment to personal development among others, attracting more business opportunities and earning profits. She highlighted the need for maintaining high quality standards as well as the need for innovation and good communication in developing a business and attracting more profits.

She also spoke about her personal experiences in handling labour, production and supply chain issues within the organisation. She noted that her hard work, dedication, commitment and perseverance helped her to overcome these challenges and advised the students to work with a strong commitment to achieve desired goals.

The “Leaders for the 21st Century” is a pioneering leadership training programme launched by the BCIS. The focus of this programme is to create awareness and help foster integral prerequisites for credible leadership such as honesty, commitment, efficiency among the participants. The BCIS Youth Leadership Academy was established as a CSR Project of the BMICH with the prime objective of training young people to become responsible and effective leaders.
