TNA to turn to UNHRC and President Rajapaksa to obtain release of Tiger cadres in custody

A group of relatives and family members of the LTTE cadres in custody met the TNA leaders in Jaffna, on Sunday, seeking the latter’s support for campaign to secure the release of the detainees.
The family members of the LTTE cadres in custody met ITAK leader Mavai Senathiraja and requested the TNA leaders to meet with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Justice Minister and other relevant ministers to discuss the plight of the inmates and secure their release. Also present at the meeting with the ITAK Leader was former Chairman of the Northern Provincial Council C.V.K. Sivagnanam.
ITAK leader Senathiraja promised that the TNA would discuss with other Tamil parties in Parliament and appeal to the UNHRC in Geneva and seek an appointment with President Rajapaksa to discuss the matter.
