TNA advisor released on bail

An advisor to the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) was released on Rs. 200,000 bail yesterday (18) after he was produced before the Jaffna Magistrate by Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) officers.

Velan Sami was arrested on the same day for organising a protest march from Pottuvil to Point Pedro, Jaffna two years before. He was questioned for six hours. TNA Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran and former Jaffna mayor, S. Maniwannan appeared for Sami.
