Timely action saves 61 persons as landslide destroys 21 houses at Waradolawatta Estate in Badalkumbura

Timely action by Disaster Management Units saved the lives of  61 persons but the 21 houses they lived in were completely destroyed by a landslide at Waradolawatta Estate in the Akanda Grama Niladhari ward in the Badalkumbura Divisional Secretaries Area this (13) morning.

A press release from the DMC states that the occupants of the 21 houses, were evacuated minutes before the slide became active.

The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) requests all persons living in landslide prone areas to be vigilant of their surroundings as timely evacuation could save lives.
