Thusith and Dinuka receive top awards
12th HNB Millennium Trophy Golf Tournament
The HNB Millennium Trophy and the HNB Stableford Golf Tournament, one of Sri Lanka’s premier golfing events for enthusiasts and loyal HNB customers, concluded in grand style at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC), marking its 12th year of successful partnership between HNB and the RCGC.
Sponsored by one of Sri Lanka’s leading private sector banks and facilitated by the RCGC the tournament was open to all members of the club and HNB customers, and attracted an unprecedented participation of over 225 players.
Thusith Wijesinghe with a Nett score of 62 over the two days was crowned the champion of the HNB Millennium Trophy while Kashav Algama emerged the Runner-Up. Ladies Silver Division Winner, Dinuka Boralessa emerged as champion of the HNB Stableford Tournament.
Addressing a sizeable gathering at the tournament’s prize-giving ceremony, HNB DGM – Retail and SME Banking, stated: “This is a proud moment for both HNB and RCGC to celebrate the return of the Millennium Trophy Golf Tournament after a lapse of three years due to COVID. Through the past 12 iterations of the tournament, the relationship we have built is tremendous, and we will continue to support the trophy through its coming editions as well.
Speaking on behalf of the RCGC, Captain Dr. Rohitha Silva said “We are proud to have successfully held the Millennium Trophy Golf Tournament after a three-year hiatus, for our 23rd year, and foresee many more with the trust of HNB. At RCGC we not just play golf, but build relationships that extend to our workplaces, businesses, and even to our social and family lives.”
Suresh Subramanium and Noordeen Sethwala emerged as winner and runner-up, respectively, in the HNB Customer – Best Nett Score category, while Lalith Pinto clinched the Masters Division championship with 42 points, followed closely by Reyaz Mihular with 41 points. Chandra Ediriweera won the Senior Division with a score of 38 points, beating the runner-up Kumar Boralessa who scored 34 points. Sachin De Silva was awarded the Best Gross Score title with a Nett score of 72, narrowly edging out Noordeen Sethwala who was named the Runner-Up with a Nett score of 73. In the women’s competitions, Kalyani Ranasinghe was awarded winner of the Bronze Division, with a net score of 40 points.
