Thurstan advance to semi-finals

Under 19 Division I Tier ‘B’ Cricket

Thurstan reached the semi-finals with a first innings win over Mahinda in the Under 19 Division I Tier ‘B’ cricket tournament quarter-finals at Ratmalana on Wednesday.

Thurstan had already secured a first innings lead on day one. With their chances of advancing to semi-finals entirely depending on an outright win Mahinda declared their second innings at 210 for seven wickets to offer Thurstan a target of 174 runs to chase.

While open batsman Dinal Induwara anchored the batting line up with a half century to keep Thurstan interested in an outright win, Senuka Dangamuwa took wickets at regular intervals for Mahinda.

Thurstan reached 156 for eight wickets at close to seal their semi-final place. Dangamuwa completed a match bag of 11 wickets.
