Three Ukranian tourists test positive for COVID-19

Three of the 204 Ukranian tourists who arrived here recently had tested COVID-19 positive, Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath said.

Dr. Herath said that the infected tourists had been sent for treatment and necessary action had been taken to ensure that the others who came on the same flight were free from the virus.

The second group of 204 Ukrainian tourists arrived at the Mattala International Airport (MIA) on Tuesday December 29 from Kiev, Ukraine. The three patients came in this flight. In the first group 180 Ukrainian tourists arrived on Monday and all of them were subjected to PCR testing upon arrival. Over 1.1 million COVID-19 cases have been reported from Ukraine.

Out of the 460 COVID-19 cases reported from Sri Lanka on Tuesday (29) 249 were from Colombo; 165 of them were from the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) area. 50 cases were detected from Gampaha District, and of them 20 were from Pugoda.

From 04 October 2020 to 29 December this year 17, 977 COVID-19 cases were reported from the Colombo District. Over 11, 000 rapid antigen tests have been conducted in Colombo from where 74 coronavirus cases have been identified; nine of them were detected at the Galle face Green.
