Three-member delegation to take TNA’s case to US
By Dinasena Ratugamage
A three member Tamil National Alliance (TNA) delegation would leave for the United States and when they returned an alliance of all Tamil political parties would be formed, TNA leader R. Sampanthan said on Sunday.
They would also work with India to ensure that the 13th Amendment to the Constitution was fully implemented, Sampanthan said.
Speaking to journalists, Sampanthan said that a TNA delegation would also meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“A TNA delegation, including MP MA Sumanthiran, will leave for the United States at the end of the month. They will discuss the issues faced by the Tamil people. The government promised a new constitution. However, that is not happening”, he said.
They will get Indian support to secure the rights of Tamil people, amend the 13th amendment to the Constitution and implement it and press for the provincial council elections, the TNA Leader said.
“The government has no respect for the rights of minorities. The Muslims too are suffering. Thus, we need to form an alliance of all Tamil speaking political parties to lobby and influence the government to win the rights of minorities,” he said.
