Three FSP activists granted bail
Three Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) activists arrested during a recent protest march by the ‘Jana Aragala Vyaparaya’ were granted bail by the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court yesterday (03).
FSP activists Duminda Nagamuwa, Lahiru Weerasekara, and Ven. Rathkarawwe Jinarathana Thera were released subject to conditions.
They were taken into custody during a demonstration on 20 March, when at least five police personnel were injured during clashes with protesters.
The march was held in protest against several issues including the soaring cost of living and some controversial foreign agreements the government intended to sign.
Police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the protesters in Pettah, Colombo.
