Three arrested with pulse oximeters imported through backdoor
Acting on information received from the public, the police have recovered 3,400 pulse oximeters on Thursday (10), police headquarters spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said.
DIG Rohana, who is also the head of the Police Legal Division said that pulse oximeters used to measure a person’s blood oxygen level are in good demand due to the rampaging Covid-19 pandemic.
DIG Rohana said that Central Anti-Vice Strike Force based at Walana made the detection. Of the recovered stock of pulse oximeters, one suspect had 1,000 whereas the other two had 1,200 devices each. The police have also taken into custody two cars and one van along with suspects, residents of Wellawatte and Modera (SF)
