The third plant of the Norochcholai coal-fired power complex has been shut down due to a technical problem.

The boiler system of the first power plant was replaced in January this year due to its continuous failure.

Attempts to construct a fourth coal power unit at the Norochcholai complex has come to a halt due to the delays in the EIA process.

Earlier this month, a probe by COPE (Committee on Public Enterprises) found that although the Norochcholai Lakvijaya Power Plant was to add 900 MW electricity to the national grid only 810 MW was actually being generated.
